Outcomes, not tasks
Most freelancers describe their work as a menu: so many posts, so many ads, so many hours. The client then has to translate that menu into a result, and usually compares you on price. A marketing agency offer starts at the other end. It describes the outcome the client wants and explains the system that gets them there.
This matters even more now that AI makes hours worth less every year. The book puts it bluntly as one of the new rules: AI makes hours worthless, so stop selling them. Clients do not buy your time. They buy the change your work creates in their business.
Name your system
A named system is easier to remember and easier to trust than a description of services. It tells the client that you have done this before and that there is a repeatable process behind it. It also makes delivery easier to document and hand over later, which you will need in the Automate step.
Your name does not have to be clever. It has to be clear. Combine the outcome and the niche, describe the phases inside the system and show how the client experiences it from week one onwards. When someone repeats the name to a colleague, they should be able to explain what you do in one sentence.
Make it irresistible
An irresistible offer removes reasons to say no. The book lists the levers: a specific outcome, a clear timeline, proof that you understand the niche, a simple start and as little risk for the client as possible. The more of these you control, the less the conversation is about price.
- A specific outcome the client already wants.
- A clear picture of what happens in the first weeks.
- Proof that you understand their market, even if it is one result or your own background.
- A simple start without setup projects or long onboarding.
- Risk removed through clear terms and, where responsible, a guarantee.
Guarantees remove risk
A guarantee is not a trick. It is a way of taking part of the risk away from the client so they can say yes sooner. It works only when you promise something you can responsibly deliver and control, such as a process, an activity level or a way of working, rather than a business result that depends on many factors outside your hands.
Be careful and honest here. A guarantee you cannot keep destroys trust and margin at the same time. When in doubt, guarantee the work, not the outcome.
Stop being cheap
Low prices feel safe when you start. In practice they attract the hardest clients, leave no margin for freelancers or tools and keep you stuck in delivery. In Micha's own story, one of the things that changed everything after months without deals was finally getting his prices right. Price follows value: the more specific the outcome and the more it is worth to the client, the more confidently you can charge for it.
Concrete pricing depends on your niche, your outcome and your market, so it is worked out per situation. The principle does not change: charge for the result and leave room to deliver it well.
Retainers and yearly packages, no setup fees
Micha's own pricing model at Leadstars uses monthly retainers and yearly packages and no setup or implementation fees. Recurring revenue is what makes location freedom possible: you know what comes in next month, so you can plan where you live and how much you work.
Leaving out setup fees lowers the barrier to start. A yearly package rewards clients who commit and gives you stability. Together they turn a marketing agency from a series of projects into a business with predictable income.
Write the one-page offer
Before you start outreach, put the offer on one page: who it is for, the problem, the outcome, the named system with its phases, what the client gets, how you work together and how to start. If it does not fit on one page, it is not clear enough yet.
In the Out of Office Forever Program, the offer is built together with your mentor and his team during the Foundation phase, using what you learned in your research calls. Then it is tested in real sales conversations and refined until it closes.
