A few things you might be wondering.
What is the Out of Office Forever Program?
The Out of Office Forever Program is a 1:1 program that helps employees and freelancers start a marketing agency they can run from anywhere. You work with your mentor Micha Houtkamp and his team through the NOMAD model: niche, offer, meetings, automate and depart.
Who is the program for?
It is for employees and freelancers with a marketing, sales or digital skill who want recurring clients and location freedom. It also fits owners of a marketing agency that runs them instead of the other way around.
How does the 1:1 program work?
You get personal guidance built around your situation, in four phases: foundation, first clients, delivery system and freedom. You get a 90-day roadmap, templates, scripts and reviews of your real sales calls.
How much time do I need per week?
Enough to do outreach and sales calls consistently. On The Bridge, many people start with around ten focused hours per week next to their job. On The Leap, you give it full focus.
Do I need marketing experience?
It helps to have one skill that makes companies money, in marketing, sales or digital work. You do not need to be an expert in everything; the program helps you pick the niche and offer that fit your skills.
Do I need to quit my job?
No. With The Bridge you build next to your job with a 12-month plan and a quit trigger. With The Leap you quit and go all in with a buffer. On the strategy call we choose which fits you.
How long until my first clients?
It depends on how consistently you do outreach and sales calls. The 90-day roadmap aims to sign your first clients within that period, but there is no guarantee. Building a marketing agency that replaces a salary typically takes 6 to 12 months of consistent work.
What does it cost?
The investment is discussed personally on the free strategy call, after we know whether the program fits your situation.
What happens on the strategy call?
We look at your skills, finances and goals, choose between The Bridge and The Leap, and decide together whether the program is a fit. It is free and without obligation.
Is this a course?
No. It is a personal 1:1 program. You do not watch videos alone; you work with real people on your own niche, offer and sales calls.
Who is the program not for?
It is not for people looking for quick money, people who are not willing to do sales calls, or people who are not willing to work consistently for 6 to 12 months. Building a marketing agency is real work, and the program is designed for people who will do it.
How do I book a strategy call?
Use any "Book your free strategy call" button on this page. It opens the booking page where you pick a time that suits you. The call is free and without obligation.
Who is Micha Houtkamp?
Micha Houtkamp is a Dutch entrepreneur and author, and the founder and CEO of Leadstars, a recruitment marketing agency with 30+ clients in the Netherlands and the United States. He built it remotely after quitting his job and flying to Bali, and has run it from Bali, Valencia, Rio de Janeiro, Medellín and New York. He is the mentor behind the Out of Office Forever Program.
What is the NOMAD model?
The NOMAD model is a five-step framework by Micha Houtkamp for going from employee to marketing agency owner: Niche, Offer, Meetings, Automate and Depart. You pick one industry, build one productized offer, book sales calls with outbound, automate delivery with systems, freelancers and AI, and then leave the 9 to 5.
Which niche should a new marketing agency choose?
Choose an industry where businesses have budget, a clear and costly problem you can solve, and decision makers you can reach directly. Your own work background is often the best starting point. Micha chose recruitment and staffing businesses from day one, which made his messaging and results far more specific than a generalist marketing agency.
What is the difference between The Bridge and The Leap?
The Bridge means building your marketing agency on the side with a 12-month plan while keeping your job. The Leap means quitting now and following a 7-step plan with full focus. The Bridge has lower risk and a slower pace, The Leap requires a financial buffer and gives faster feedback.
Is a marketing agency better than freelancing?
For most people who want freedom, yes, because a marketing agency sells an outcome on a retainer and can grow beyond your own hours. Freelancing ties your income to your time. A marketing agency uses freelancers, systems and AI so delivery does not depend on you doing every task.
Can I start a marketing agency with no experience?
Yes, but first learn one skill that makes companies money. Get one real result. That result is your ticket to building a credible marketing agency.
How much money do I need to start?
Very little for the business itself, a few hundred euros per month at most. The real cost is your living expenses. Plan enough runway and a buffer before removing your salary.
Will AI kill marketing agencies?
AI puts pressure on marketing agencies that sell hours. It strengthens a marketing agency that sells results and uses AI to deliver those results more efficiently.
Are there already too many marketing agencies?
There are too many generalists and very few specialists. Choose one type of client and one valuable outcome instead of trying to offer everything to everyone.
What if my English is not perfect?
Start in your own language and country. You do not need international clients to build a marketing agency that you can run internationally.
What if my parents or partner think I am crazy?
Show them a plan, not just a dream. Explain your runway, the clients you will serve, your quit trigger and how you will manage the risks.
Do I need to register a company first?
You must be allowed to invoice legally. Keep it simple and ask an accountant what registration and tax rules apply in your situation.
What if I fail?
You will still have learned sales, marketing and how a business works. Those skills stay with you, and you never have to wonder what would have happened if you had tried.
How much should a new marketing agency charge?
A new marketing agency should charge based on the value of the outcome it delivers, not on hours. Productized offers on a monthly retainer or a yearly package are easier to sell and create predictable revenue. Micha's own model uses no setup or implementation fees. Concrete pricing for your niche is worked out in the program.
How do new marketing agencies find clients?
Most new marketing agencies get clients fastest through outbound: direct LinkedIn and email outreach to decision makers in one niche. Interested prospects book a discovery call, followed by a second call for presentation and close. This two-call process is part of the NOMAD model.
Do I need employees to run a marketing agency?
Not at the start. Micha worked with freelance setters and closers instead of employees early on, and freelancers for delivery. This keeps costs flexible and lets you run the marketing agency remotely.
How is AI used to run a marketing agency?
AI handles a large share of the repetitive work: research, copy, creative, reporting and CRM tasks. Micha runs much of his operation with Claude connected to his CRM, outreach and creative tools. In the program we set up your AI and tool stack with you.
What if I hate selling?
Many people start out uncomfortable with sales, and it often becomes a strength with practice. Good sales is asking questions and listening, not pushing people. Practise it, then hand the calls to a closer when your process works.
What if a client does not pay?
Take payment upfront and set up automatic monthly payments. Make the payment terms clear before you start delivering.
Can you run a marketing agency as a digital nomad?
Yes. A marketing agency can be run fully remotely, because sales calls, delivery and team communication all happen online. Micha runs Leadstars from abroad and has done so from Bali, Valencia, Rio de Janeiro, New York and Medellín. The key is building systems and using freelancers and AI so the work does not depend on your physical location or your hours.
How many hours a day does it take to run a remote marketing agency?
Once it is systemized, it can be far less than a full-time job. Micha runs his marketing agency in about three to four hours a day. Getting there takes consistent, focused work in the first 6 to 12 months.
Is the nomad life lonely?
Sometimes, especially in the first weeks somewhere new. Choose bases with community, live with founders and keep a fixed call with family. Freedom also needs connection.
Is this only for young people without kids?
No. Families usually travel more slowly and need different logistics. The marketing agency part works the same: recurring revenue, clear delivery and systems that do not depend on your location.
How long until I can travel?
Technically, from day one. It is usually wiser to wait until the marketing agency covers your costs in a cheaper country, with a buffer. For many people that can be within the first year, but it is not a promise.
