NOW BOARDING: THE NOMAD MODEL

The method behind the program

The NOMADmodel.

The NOMAD model is a five-step framework by Micha Houtkamp for going from employee or freelancer to the owner of a marketing agency you can run from anywhere in the world: Niche, Offer, Meetings, Automate, Depart.

Five steps

Five steps, in order.

N

Niche

Pick one industry you can serve better than anyone.
+

Niche means choosing one type of client and understanding its problem better than a generalist marketing agency. Micha chose recruitment because he had worked at a staffing business.

  • Use five tests: a costly problem, budget, reachable decision makers, repeat demand and a result you can deliver.
  • Write a positioning sentence: I help [one type of client] achieve [one outcome] through [your system].
  • Validate the problem with ten research calls before building the offer.

O

Offer

Build one productized offer with a clear outcome and a monthly retainer.
+

Offer means packaging a result into a named system that clients want to buy, not a list of tasks.

  • Name your system and make the outcome irresistible.
  • A clear guarantee removes risk. Only promise what you can responsibly deliver.
  • Stop being cheap. Use monthly retainers and yearly packages, without setup fees.

M

Meetings

Book sales calls with outbound and run a two-call close.
+

Meetings means creating a repeatable flow of conversations and using a two-call sales process. The whole game is meetings and closing.

  • Start with your warm network, LinkedIn outreach, cold calling and cold email.
  • A four-line message: a relevant observation, the problem, your outcome and a simple invitation to talk.
  • Discovery: 30 to 45 minutes. Presentation and close: 45 to 60 minutes.

A

Automate

Systems, freelancers and AI so delivery does not depend on your hours.
+

Automate means turning sales and delivery into systems that keep moving without you doing every task.

  • Build the sales machine: lead sources, booking, show-up, the call without you and follow-up.
  • Outsource before you hire. Closers first, then setters.
  • Let it be 80 percent as good. Document the process and connect AI to your tools.

D

Depart

Leave the 9 to 5 and run it from anywhere.
+

Depart means designing a nomad life that supports the marketing agency and the person running it.

  • Slow travel beats fast travel. Build a freedom calendar instead of a permanent holiday.
  • Use geo-arbitrage to buy focus, not just cheaper accommodation.
  • Plan taxes, banking, insurance, visas and time zones. Take the traps nobody posts about seriously.

The landscape has changed

Old marketing agency. New marketing agency.

The new marketing agency sells specific outcomes through systems, AI and speed, rather than offices and billable hours.

01

The old way: An office proves you are serious.

Clients buy outcomes, not offices.

02

The old way: More hours mean more value.

AI makes hours worthless. Stop selling them.

03

The old way: Do everything for everyone.

Specialists beat generalists.

04

The old way: Getting seen needs a big budget.

Distribution is almost free.

05

The old way: Everyone must work in one time zone.

Time zones are a feature, not a bug.

06

The old way: Wait until everything is perfect.

Speed beats perfection.

Two ways out

The Bridge or The Leap. You choose one, then execute it.

There are two ways to leave the 9 to 5 with a marketing agency. On the strategy call we look at your finances, risk appetite and life, and choose the one that fits you. Then we execute it together.

01

The Bridge

Build on the side with a 12-month plan.

  • Build a 12-month plan while keeping your income.
  • Set a quit trigger based on recurring revenue and a buffer.
  • Calculate your runway and find ten focused hours each week.
  • Check your employment contract before taking clients.

02

The Leap

Full focus, with a real buffer.

  • Save capital and give the marketing agency your full attention.
  • Calculate living costs before you leave.
  • Savings often run out faster than expected.
  • Plan a bigger buffer than you think you need.

From idea to execution

Your first 90 days.

The first 90 days are a practical sequence for validating a niche, winning clients, documenting delivery and creating the first freedom.

  1. 01

    Days 1 to 14

    Foundation

    • Calculate your freedom number
    • Choose a niche and make validation calls
    • Write a one-page offer
    • Build a list of 300+ prospects
  2. 02

    Days 15 to 45

    First clients

    • Outreach and sales calls every day
    • Aim to sign your first one to three clients
  3. 03

    Days 46 to 75

    Delivery system

    • Deliver for your clients
    • Document standard operating procedures
    • Keep selling
  4. 04

    Days 76 to 90

    First freedom

    • Set up your first automations
    • Make your first hire
    • Choose your next base

A working plan, not a guarantee or a deadline for results.
